Our Serendipity By The Shore – A Story 25 Years in the Making

Some love stories are written slowly. Ours felt like lightning. In 1999, Enrica came to the U.S. from Italy for a short vacation to visit her aunt—just a quick getaway. But fate had other plans. Somewhere between sightseeing and settling in, Cupid struck (hard). That’s when we met—and it was instant. We like to say the universe gave us a nudge… or maybe a shove. Our very first date? Perkins Cove in Ogunquit. The salty breeze, crashing waves, and charm of the Marginal Way made it unforgettable. We walked, we laughed, we talked like we’d known each other forever. Six months later, we were married. Enrica moved to the U.S. in 2000, and we began a new chapter—together. (And yes—she brought a suitcase full of pasta, because priorities.) Since then, every summer has brought us back to Ogunquit. It became *our place*. The kids grew up here—splashing in the tide pools, running on the sand for miles when the tide was low, collecting shells and memories. Those beaches were the backdrop to some of our happiest moments. Now our "kids" are old enough to drive us to Maine, and somehow, the magic of this place has only grown. Then last year, while having a drink with a close friend, they told us they were selling their beach house. Our eyes locked—we didn’t even need to speak. In unison, we said, “We’re buying it.” It took less than five seconds to decide. A month later, we had the keys. And here’s the best part: the house was already named Serendipity. We couldn’t have scripted it better. A love story sparked by chance, a lifelong connection to the coast, and a dream home with the perfect name waiting for us. Now, we get to share this little slice of joy with others. We are committed to creating an amazing experience for every guest who walks through the door. Whether you’re here for rest, romance, family time, or just to let the ocean reset your soul—we hope you feel the magic we’ve felt here all along.
